AIL World Championships 2008


IT IS GOING TO BE THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE YEAR!

We are expecting up to 500 competitors at this weekend long event! The event will begin on Friday evening and will conclude on Sunday afternoon with a Pro Invitational where our top 10 amateurs (from the advanced division) will compete against the best Professionals in our sport!

    EVENT INFORMATION:

    This years World Championships event is going to be a weekend long event so please take the time to carefully read over all the information in this packet. There is a lot of important information to cover!


    PRICING PACKAGES:

    All Inclusive Package - This package will include: housing, food, competitor fees, & banquet admission. The details are as follows:
    *Competitors will experience a camp experience by staying in a cabin with an Adult Inline Peer (Counselor) both Friday & Saturday night. They will get to skate in Woodward West’s Hanger & the Enterprise during their weekend stay. They will be served breakfast, lunch, & dinner on Saturday and brunch will be served on Sunday (meal times indicated on the above schedule). This is an example menu for event:
    Meals include choices such as:
    Breakfast: Pancakes, oatmeal, breakfast meat, eggs, French toast, etc.
    Lunch: Pizza, grilled cheese, tacos, soup, tater tots, chicken nuggets, Philly cheesesteak, etc.
    Dinner: Chicken parmesan, Beef stroganoff, Chinese meals, Mexican meals, etc.

    Available every meal:
    Milk (whole, skim, chocolate), cold drinks, coffee, tea.
    Bagel Bar! A variety of bagels with toppings like cream cheese and honey.
    Cereal Bar! Assorted cold cereals and milk.
    Peanut Butter and Jelly Bar!
    Available every lunch and dinner:
    Salad Bar! Fresh vegetables, cottage cheese, macaroni salad, and more
    Fresh fruit breakfast bar!
    Includes fresh seasonal fruit such as cantaloupe, watermelon, honeydew, grapes, bananas, apples, strawberries, grapefruit, and peaches.
    *Competitors will also receive the largest packed AIL goodie bag and a ticket to attend the AIL award banquet. The award banquet is an amazing event alone! It will consist of video highlights, awards, fun, & appetizers! Competitors have the opportunity to purchase this complete package for only $180. It’s an opportunity of a lifetime!

    Competitor Only Package – This package is for individuals who would like to take care of their own lodging & meals. The competitor package will include the following:
    *Individuals will be able to register and practice on Friday evening, compete & skate all day Saturday and Sunday during open hours (see event schedule on page 1). They will also receive the “packed” AIL goodie bag and a ticket to attend the AIL award banquet, just as the other package includes. The price for this package is $80. Both packages are amazing deals; it is just about what fits your stay’s needs. You may already be staying with family or friends in surrounding areas or you may want to experience that camp atmosphere and stay on premises with your friends & peers. Either way… it is going to be a weekend of fun and you get to skate the best facilities around!
    All packages MUST BE booked & paid for by September 10, 2008. Please do not wait till the
    last minute.

    Please fill out the attached registration forms and get them sent in with PAYMENT by September 10th. You will not be registered until your competitor fees are paid and all forms are filled out completely & accurately.     Lodging: Woodward West is located in Stallion Springs, CA. The town sits up in the mountains about 17miles from town. Woodward West does have a lodge and rooms will be available to rent (We sold out FAST last year so book early).     Food Options: Meal packages are available in the ALL INCLUSIVE PACKAGE ONLY. There will be hotdogs & hamburgers for sale between 11am-4pm on Saturday & Sunday and a snack bar with drinks. There are also plenty of restaurants in town (approx. 17 miles away). From McDonalds and Taco Bell to nice sit down Mexican, Italian, & Thai restaurants.
    Driving Directions: Attached to this packet you will find an info sheet with driving directions to Woodward West. Please do not follow Map quest or goggle maps. It is not real clear and brings you down a very small back road that is not real safe. You can also find driving directions to the camp at www.woodwardwest.com.


    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:

    1. Can I skate Woodward West during the event if I am not competing?
    This is easy to answer… NO! Woodward West riding facilities are open to AIL competitors only. This event is not intended to be treated as an open skate park. Security will be tight at this event so please remind others that they cannot skate unless they have QUALIFIED AND ARE COMPETING.
    2. How are the sleeping arrangements set-up for the cabins if I purchase the ALL INCLUSIVE PACKAGE?
    Competitors are assigned to cabins based on age & gender. Females & males WILL NOT be housed together. For example, Cabin 10A may be boys ages 10 to 12. A counselor that is over the age of 18 will supervise each cabin. Woodward & the AIL promote a family atmosphere that is suited for kids 5-17. SMOKING, DRINKING or DRUGS ON CAMP GROUNDS ARE NOT TOLERATED! We will have security every evening throughout the night.
    3. What is the AIL Award Banquet?
    The AIL award banquet is a huge highlight to being a part of the Amateur Inline League. It is an opportunity to highlight the year, competitors, & enjoy a fun atmosphere and good food. It is an event that you do not want to miss! FUN, FRIENDS, AWARDS & FOOD! There are GREAT awards given out! Competitors will receive a free admissions bracelet to attend the banquet. All family & friends may purchase banquet tickets for $10 each at the AIL registration booths.
    4. Do I have to wear pads while skating?
    YES! We promote safety and want you to be able to continue to skate for a VERY long time! You must wear helmets, kneepads, & elbow pads.
    5. What areas can we skate at Woodward West?
    You will be able to skate Woodward’s 54,000 sq ft indoor facility, the Hangar and the 24,000 sq ft outdoor facility, The Enterprise. All other areas are closed. You will have so much to ride in these two areas that you will be more than completely satisfied! All Competition will take place in the hanger EXCEPT for the ADVANCED 16 & up division. They will compete in the Enterprise.
    6. What is the Trade Show?
    On Saturday, during event, your favorite companies will be showcasing their products and offering you an opportunity to purchase items at a very discounted price. It’s a great opportunity to see new product, talk about what is coming out next, or just to talk to the guys who are behind your favorite company!
    7. What is the Scholarship fund?
    If you have a friend or know someone who would love to come to the AIL Championships event but can not afford to come or needs some help to get there, please contact me, Pam Velasquez, to discuss applying for a scholarship.
    8. How do I turn Pro?
    The top 10in the 16 & up ADV division will turn AIL/ASA Pro. The AIL Judges will determine who goes PRO in the Women’s division and the Vert division. The top 10 AM’s in the 16 & up ADV division will also get to compete against the top PRO’S in the world on a course specifically built for this event! It is a VERY unique and rewarding opportunity.
    9. Will there be event coverage?
    YES! One Magazine, Radius Magazine, Be-mag, etc will be at event covering all aspects of the weekend’s highlights. You will be able to talk one on one with ONE MAGAZINES’ photographers and staff. They will also have a booth at the event so that you can learn more about the hottest inline magazine out there! There will local news stations and video coverage of the whole event! The Sunday Pro event will also be a LIVE WEB FEED.
    10. May I arrive early to practice & skate Woodward West?
    The AIL World Championships event DOES NOT start until Friday September 26th! NO ONE may be on campgrounds until 6:00pm! Doors will open at 6pm for registration & practice.
    11. Will there be medical staff available?
    YES! We will have medical Staff on camp grounds during the entire weekend’s event (this means that medical staff is on camp grounds 24 hours around the clock each day).
    12. Will there be an orientation meeting for competitors?
    Yes. There will be a meeting with all competitors & staff on Friday evening at 10pm & right before contest starts on Saturday.
    13. Will I get to meet the Pro’s and skate with them?
    YES! The Pro’s that are attending the AIL Championships are VERY excited about meeting you and hanging out with you & your friends. The Pro’s that are confirmed right now are: Chris Haffey, Brian Aragon, Richie Velasquez, Jeff Stockwell, Frankie Morales, Erik Bailey, Chaz Sandz, Miguel Ramos, Rachard Johnson, Brian Shima, Jaren Grob, & Alex Broskow. Each one of these guys are amazing and looking forward to SKATING WITH YOU!
    14. Will we get a T-shirt & Goodie bag at this event?
    OF COURSE and hopefully it will be the best one you have ever gotten! The T-shirt, Goodie Bag, and surprise contents will be worth more than what you paid to enter the Championships event!
    15. Can my parents stay close by?
    Woodward West has a lodge that is about 1 mile away. They can reserve a room there during your stay at camp. The phone number to reserve a room is 661-822-5581. The Lodge will fill up VERY FAST so please make reservations ASAP.
